Suspicious fire investigation, Tewantin

Detectives from Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious house fire in Tewantin this morning, March 29.

At approximately 1.30am, emergency services were called to a fire at a Waratah Close address.

Upon arrival of emergency services, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

No one was in the property at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Police have declared a crime scene at the property and are waiting for the scene to be declared safe before conducting a full examination.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has dashcam or CCTV from the surrounding area, is urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.

Dangerous Driving Investigation, Maroochydore

Police have released vision in an appeal for witnesses following the arrest of a man in relation to a separate alleged drink driving offence in Maroochydore on Sunday, March 19.

At approximately 4.30am, police located a yellow Ford Falcon at a service station along Maroochydore Road.

The alleged driver, a 24-year-old Moodlu man, allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.159 and was charged with one count of drink driving.

He is expected to appear before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 17.

Investigations are continuing into the vehicle’s movements leading up to its arrival at the service station.

Police believe the vehicle may be linked to several reports of dangerous driving in the vicinity of Maroochydore Road.

Police have released vision of a similar vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road between Blanck Street and Evans Street between 4.00am and 4.30am that same morning (March 19).

Anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have witnessed a yellow sedan, or has dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.

Missing Man, Beerwah

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a man missing from Beerwah overnight.

Marcus Watters suffers from a medical condition. He was last seen around 8pm at a Featherwood Crescent residence.

Marcus is 29-years-old and is described as Caucasian, 185cm tall, slim build with brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators are appealing for Marcus or anyone with further information to contact police.

Fire Investigation, Noosaville

Emergency services were called to attend a fire Gympie Terrace, Noosaville last night.

Police arrived shortly after 1am, locating several vessels well alight and assisted to extinguish the flames and save other nearby boats.

The investigation to identify the cause of the fire is ongoing, however it is not thought to be suspicious.

Assault, deprivation of liberty and robbery charges, Tewantin

Police have charged three girls following investigations into an incident at a Tewantin address earlier this month.

Police will allege on Saturday March 11, a 13-year-old girl was invited into a home where she was subsequently prevented from leaving and filmed whilst being assaulted, taunted and cut with a knife over the period of several hours.

On March 13, investigations led police to charge three girls, aged 12, 13, & 14-years-old.

The 14-year-old was charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company, deprivation of liberty, Enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, armed robbery whilst in company used personal violence, enter premises and commit indictable offence and wilful damage.  She was remanded in custody and is due to face Maroochydore Childrens Court again next month.

The 13-year-old was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery whilst in company used personal violence, enter dwelling and commit indictable offence, common assault and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. She is due to re-appear in Maroochydore Childrens Court later this month.

The 12-year-old was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery in company with personal violence, enter dwelling and commit indictable offence and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. She is due to re-appear in Maroochydore Childrens Court later this month.

Police are appealing for people not to share any images or vision relating to this incident out of respect for the victim and to not add to the notoriety of those involved.

Initial investigations indicate at 8am, a car and motorbike collided at the intersection of Diddillibah Road and Nambour Connection Road in Nambour.

The motorbike rider, a 19-year-old Buderim man, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

A 19-year-old man has died following a fatal two vehicle crash in Woombye this morning, March 21.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 79-year-old Woombye woman, was not physically injured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision from the area to come forward.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
