Unique opportunity for artists to showcase artwork within Maroochydore CBD

Interlace Artwork

Sunshine Coast artists are invited to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for paid commissions of digital works that respond to the changing dynamic of the new Maroochydore City Centre project.

SunCentral City Activation Project Manager Bronwyn Adams said the initiative forms part of the yourcity. yourstory. curatorial framework that places arts-based programming at the heart of the shaping of the new Maroochydore City Centre story.

“This EOI is an invitation to the local artistic community to make their mark on their future city and creatively respond to the changing dynamic as residents and workers move in and activate the city centre.

Arts and culture play an important role in creating community in urban areas and help breathe life into the CBD project and this is part of the yourcity. Yourstory. program which we have run over the past few years.

“Artists will receive a $2,000 commission fee for the reproduction of their digital artwork onto our pop up gallery wall at the MET with high exposure street frontage onto First Avenue.  Artwork on our 6m wall will be on display temporarily and will also be included as part of our content across all of our digital platforms.

“We will have two commissions available this round with the successful applicant’s artwork displayed over a four-month period at the Metropolitan (the MET) creative precinct within the new CBD,” Bronwyn said.

Shyanne Clarke

Shyanne Clarke’s bold new work, Interlace will be the next work displayed as part of the Creative Hoarding program replacing Timothy Birch’s Surrounds installation. Using nature as her inspiration, visitors to the MET can view Shyanne’s response to the changing dynamic of the city build from Monday 8 August 2022.

Submissions for the next round of yourcity. yourstory. Creative Hoarding Program is now open and close on Friday 19th August 2022, 5pm.
