Ms Monaco High Society Hair reopens on Sunshine Coast

An eight year stint as a flight attendant learning the art of first class service has helped lay the foundations for Samantha Jones’ successful career as the owner and operator of high end hair salons in England and Australia over the past 14 years.

Samantha is the owner of the stunning Ms Monaco Hair Society which is one of the largest hair and beauty salons on the Sunshine Coast. The ground floor tenancy covers 280m2 of Devcon Property Group’s HQ building at 9 Courage Street Sippy Downs.

“It’s been a massive journey for me after opening my first hair and nail salon in the UK back in 2009, I then moved to Australia in 2011 and operated a salon in Strathpine which was just 48m2 and another at Northlakes which was originally 88m2 but we grew so quickly we took out another tenancy to make it 180m2.

“In 2018 I opened the first iteration of Ms Monaco at Sippy Downs but it was hard for me to scale the business as the salon was just 68m2. When the opportunity presented itself to take the ground floor of the brand new HQ building I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up.

“I just loved the design and shape of the building and the ability to work with the developer and my interior fit out team from Farrago to create a space which truly reflects my style, personality and the high end business I wanted to create for women to relax and be pampered. It really is a dream come true,” Samantha said.

Walking into Ms Monaco takes on a life of its own, the spacious stunning interior has a lovely soft pink hue to give it the feminine touch. The magic happens as soon as clients are greeted with a warm welcome by the bubbly salon co-ordinator at the front desk. Clients can relax with a choice of either a barista made coffee or a glass or wine and even a cocktail which can be accompanied with tasty snacks including a freshly made charcuterie board. To help get into full relaxation mode there’s also the signature scalp and neck massage before being whisked away by your stylist.

“This is High Society at its finest, I wanted to take the importance of first class service from my experience as a flight attendant and I knew there was no reason why we couldn’t create a luxury destination for women to take time out, relax and be truly pampered.

“As a business we are also defying industry trends where many hairdressers are now preferring to set up a studio and work from home in their own time or simply rent a chair and operate from an existing salon.

“We are the complete opposite. We have created a beautiful space to enjoy with our clients and we currently employ 12 staff with the goal of staying in our lane and growing our hair cut and colour as well as extension business and not be side tracked with add-on beauty services such as lashes, facials and nails.

“We currently have between 80-100 clients come through the doors each week and I believe we can double that number because we have the staff and chairs to meet that growth.

“We also want to build our membership base which offers clients a range of exclusive benefits, there’s definitely an opportunity to grow this market as our clients come from across the coast as well as Brisbane, Bribie Island and Gympie, we have a large catchment area and we want to capture as much of it as we can.

“Sippy Downs is an ideal location to grow the business as it’s central to the Sunshine Coast and an easy drive for clients from the north side of Brisbane. We’ve also got some great local eateries like Junk Asian Fusion food and The Bower Tree with its numerous restaurants and bars so clients can enjoy a pamper and a get together with friends in the same location,” Samantha added.
