Habitat Development Group has officially commenced construction on their latest Sunshine Coast development project St Clair, an eight level, 200 unit apartment complex which is located on the last east facing, absolute waterfront site on Birtinya Island.

Habitat Development Group Managing Director, Cleighton Clark, said the St Clair residential development would be located on an amalgamated 8,976sqm site on Waterside Retreat overlooking Lake Kawana and will comprise 200 two, three and four bedroom dwellings elevated over 8 levels as well as a generously proportioned rooftop terrace boasting stunning ocean, lake & hinterland views on level nine.

“We are thrilled to be commencing construction of this landmark project in Birtinya.  The past few years have been difficult for the development and construction industry but we are beginning to see pricing on building materials stabilise and thanks to our strong track record on the coast, we have a great pool of local subcontractors who will help us make this project a reality. With rental vacancy at an all time low and very few residential projects underway on the Sunshine Coast, we feel this is a great opportunity to help ease the current housing crisis,” he said.

Mr Clark said in a boost to the local construction sector, between 350-400 workers will be on site during the construction phase.

Birtinya has become one of the region’s true property hot spots with excellent proximity to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital as well as to the Stockland Birtinya shopping centre which features a flagship Coles and ALDI supermarket and some 40 specialty retailers along with a variety of food and entertainment options.

“We are also very pleased to hear that the former NightQuarter precinct at Birtinya is set to be revitalised into a family friendly entertainment precinct under a new name, The Station. It’s an exciting addition to the local entertainment industry,” Mr Clark said.

Mr Clark said over 50% of Stage 1 has already been sold with prices ranging from $749,900 to in excess of $3,000,000 for a penthouse unit.

Construction is due for completion in late 2025.
