Tomi Gray’s TRIP

After a five-star debut at Adelaide Fringe, musician and performer Tomi Gray brings his surreal music-comedy stage show TRIP to Maroochydore for one show only.

It starts simply enough: a man catches a train. From there, things get considerably stranger.

What follows is a genre-bending journey through a warped Australian landscape populated by a giant scatapillar, a hostile emu, a talking mushroom, a mysterious old man and a chicken that may or may not hold the answers to everything.

Along the way, Gray finds himself trapped in a fishbowl, stranded in the desert, thrown into a bizarre saloon and confronted by increasingly ridiculous obstacles as he attempts to figure out where he’s going — and why he’s in such a hurry to get there.

Built around Gray’s original live music, TRIP blends songs, comedy, storytelling, puppetry, audience interaction, projection and surreal theatre into an absurd journey about distraction, technology and learning to be present in the world you’re actually in.

Think a live gig collided with an Australian road movie and something went terribly, wonderfully wrong.
