An Evening with Gemma Sisia – Fighting Poverty through Education in Tanzania
Gemma Sisia grew up as the youngest of eight siblings on a sheep property in Armidale, New South Wales. At just 22, she moved to Africa and went on to found The School of St Jude in Arusha, Tanzania in 2002, which today provides 1,800 free educational scholarships to bright Tanzanian students from poor backgrounds.
Her story has captured audiences around the globe, with her work featured nationally on media programs such as Australian Story and 60 Minutes.
Gemma is visiting Australia with St Jude’s graduate, Faith Samwel, who will share how access to free primary, secondary and tertiary education has changed her life and that of her family and community. The pair will speak at events across the country, inviting Australians to learn about St Jude’s impact firsthand.
This is your chance to hear Gemma’s amazing story when she visits the Sunshine Coast. This is a FREE event, however you need to book by emailing Gary Franks at grfranks@bigpond.com
