Business Spotlight with David Castle-Burns from Rediscover Physio

About Me

In 2018 I escaped the harsh Canberra winters for the great Sunshine Coast, where I met my now fianceé, and we are patiently waiting for a post COVID wedding.

We have two young crazy kelpie puppies that demand walks whenever the TV gets turned on.

Outside of starting Rediscover Physio this year, I also began studying my Masters in Sports Physiotherapy to improve my skills and help even more people.

With what little time is left, I train for Ironman triathlons and marathon events, having completed Ironman Cairns in June this year too.

About Rediscover Physio

In 2021 I began Rediscover Physio with the vision to provide my community with high quality physiotherapy. Most people have had an experience with a physiotherapist, whether it was good or bad.

Rediscover Physio is about helping people rediscover the benefits of quality physiotherapy to help them rediscover their potential.

Every consult is underpinned by our 3 core values:

Excellence, Integrity and Empathy
from the moment you step into the room
you are the focus

What do you enjoy most about your industry?

Working in healthcare as a physiotherapist, I get the opportunity to help people when they are at their worst due to pain or an injury. Helping them and giving them the tools to get back to their day to day activities and hobbies pain free.

Favourite place to eat on the Sunshine Coast?

Food is our passion, and we love to cook. We do an amazing Swede Gnocchi if you ask me, the trick is a snap bag to pipe it from rather than rolling it on a bench.

However, when going out we prefer to go to a different restaurant every time. There are so many great places on the coast to go with spectacular food and atmosphere.

Favourite place to visit on the Sunshine Coast?

Like a true visitor to the Sunshine Coast, my favourite place is Hastings Street and Noosa main beach.  If you can brave the traffic, tourism and find a car park, it just has it all. You can go for a dip in the ocean where it is perfect 99% of the time, or walking or running through the national park. While at the end of it all there are some fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars that always make it a place to be.

What do you enjoy doing on the weekends?

On my weekends I love getting outside of my 3 x 3 walls and enjoying the fresh air. I can be found swimming, cycling or running on one of our many fantastic natural tracks of the Sunshine Coast. I also love taking our dogs out for long walks or runs, they are kelpies after all.

We also call the occasional weekend trip for a race a holiday, even if you have to exercise for over 5 hours most of the time.

What are you currently watching on TV/Netflix?

My secret binge is the Bachelorette.

What’s the last book you read?

Bolder – “Life lessons from people older and wiser than you”. It is an incredible book, where they interview a range of older people around the world, on the topics of love, career and hobbies. What I learnt from it is that at any age you can live a formidable life. The only thing that will get in your way is your mindset.
