2023 Anzac Day Dawn Service – Maroochydore

Maroochy RSL is calling on all local Veterans, their family, friends and the broader community to participate in this year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service.

Now in its 91st year of operating, Maroochy RSL believe the legacy of the ANZAC troops landing at Gallipoli at the break of dawn on 25 April 1915 is as strong as ever.

Maroochy RSL President Les D’Alton said the ANZAC Day Dawn Service is a seminal day in the community-based organisation’s calendar.

“Each year ANZAC Day gets bigger and bigger, it’s a day where all Australians come together and commemorate the sacrifice of the original ANZAC’s as well as those men and women who have served our country in all other wars since 1915.

“Our ANZAC Day commemoration is steeped in tradition and protocol, the Dawn Service is a poignant ceremony featuring the laying of wreaths, sounding of the Last Post and observance of a minute’s silence. There’s no other day like it in Australia and we are proud of the way our RSL have continued this very important tradition over the years.

“We invite all locals to join the 2023 ANZAC Day Dawn Service which is hosted by Maroochy RSL Veteran Hub at the Cotton Tree Cenotaph from 4.28am and then back at the Maroochy RSL venue on Memorial Avenue which is open to the public at 1pm.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for our community to show their support to our returned servicemen and women, enjoy a cold beverage as well as try their hand at traditional ANZAC games such as Two-up and Crown and Anchor,” Mr D’Alton said.
